Coherent Breathing
Coherent breathing is a form of breathing that involves taking long slow breaths at a rate of about five per minute.
Deep breathing helps to calm the body through its effect on the autonomic nervous system.
The recipe
- IN for 6 sec (nose)
- OUT for 6 sec (nose or mouth)
- no hold
- keep going for at least 7 minutes (this is when the parasympathetic kicks in and you start the repair)
- aim to get to 20 minutes in a session
- get some guidance
